Edie’s Place is a purpose-built not-for-profit facility that provides care with dignity and warmth. Balancing residential comfort with commercial compliance, the project offers a quiet, practical environment designed to support focused work and calm interaction.
The existing roof and superstructure were retained and integrated into the new build, requiring careful planning to meet acoustic and thermal performance targets. Recycled timber was used extensively throughout, bringing depth and texture while underscoring a commitment to sustainable construction.
Passive design strategies and acoustic separation contribute to comfort, privacy, and durability.

Our Process
Pre-Construction
Edie’s Place was brought to us by BVN with a clear intent: deliver a compliant commercial facility that felt like home. Arc. was engaged early under a Preliminary Agreement to help guide design resolution, construction methodology, and buildability. Our role included advising on the integration of retained structural elements, assessing sequencing impacts, and shaping a material reuse strategy that could be implemented on a live site.
